Knowing the interface

Apply to: 2016 R1

We are going to know about the interface that will help when making a project.

How does it work the workspace?

The workspace it’s a interface used to develop a project. That interface can give us some information and have the tools that we need to make a project.

Look at the image, the pallets are inside the tabs and are indicate by arrows. When you click on them, it’s possible navigate between the pallets.

1 – Header

It’s where we get some information about module of product and name of an opened project.

2 – Menu

Open some project options.

3 – Quick Access Toolbar

It’s the upper left icons (save/open/new project/undo).

4 – Tabs

There are tabs that separate the main functions;
e.g.: Home / Pages / Project / Draw / Insert / View / Manage / Reports / SAP.

5 – Workspace

The workspace it’s where we can insert components, wires and make the electric project. The window can be resized.

6 – Project Guide

Notify about the open projects and allow navigation between the projects.

7 – Pallet

The sidebars that can be located in both sides of workspace. Almost every work it’s made on pallets.

8 – Command window

The command window allow some entered commands. Make a test: type L to draw a line. When you insert a line the software will ask the first insertion point.

You can always check the next step of a tool there.

9 – Reference bar

The reference bar is located on the bottom of the application window and is divided into two main area: drafting setting and coordinate display.
The drafting setting show resources of a platform CAD. They are Snap (Snap display); Grid (grid display); Ortho (Ortho Mode); Polar (Polar guide); ESnap (Entity Snap); ETrack;

What the function of pallets?

Responsible for manage wires, cables, terminal, components and connectors information inside a project.

It’s responsible for the component library. Every and nay component registered in database will be displayed in this pallet.

The idea is basically the same of component pallet. The wire and cable pallet are responsible for their related function in the database.

If you make a new electric diagram, we should use only wires and cables. Don’t use lines(command line “shortcut L”) to connect components.

The page pallet is the place where you can manage the pages inside a project. The pages can hold titles that is used as description of a page in a project.

The properties pallet is responsible to make changes in entity, attributes, notes, dimensions.

Is this interface the only one?

No. If you use the quick access toolbar it’s possible select 3 different ways of display: Ribbon / Classic / CAD.

The Ribbon is a command bar that organize the resources, tools and some guides in the interface. This display allow a easily locate of tools and a better use of the workspace.

They are the classic menu. On this format the tools are displayed in sections. Even not being as intuitive as Ribbon that allow a easily custom.

CAD Tools

The CAD Tools allows the user use only the CAD tools. That way, the electric tools will be hidden and the user gonna drawn in the software.
