Inserting components

To be able to approach every subject under Electrical Schematics, such as inserting wires, components, contacts of a component, linking accessories, and others, in a neater way, we created a project to control the direct start of an engine. 

Inserting the first component…
  1. In the Component palette
  3. Double-click on the component
  4. Position the component on the first wire from left to right, like in to the picture below:

What are the properties of a component?

After insertion, a component’s property window is displaced. The characteristics there shown correspond to the attributes the component block already possesses.


This indicates the component’s name. This is placed and incremented automatically due to a setting in the components register.

Shows the dimensions of the platelet that contains the component’s description on the pannel.

5. Fill in the information according to the following image:

In case you are accustomed to inserting the components in a wire’s center or extremity, check if the snap setting “Closest” is enabled.


Set the Snap according to your preference, but remember to configure it accordingly on the DWT so it’s saved for future projects.

Enabling “Closest” on Snap…
  1. Right-click on Snap;
  2. Select Settings;
  3. Enable the option “Closest”.

Inserting another component…
  1. In the component palette;
  2. Open the folder BOTÕES > TELEMECANIQUE > HARMONY XB5 > BOTÃO COM. LUMIN., 1NA, AM, 220V, LED, XB5-AW35M1;
  3. Insert the component in the position shown below;
  4. Fill in the data according to the following picture;
  5. Read on for an alternative way of locating and inserting a contactor.

    You may utilize the “Search” resource to locate a component as well. With it, it’s possible to use one component’s information,  like its system code, fabricant code or description to locate it in a much faster way.

Locate a contactor through his code…
  1. Click on the search field in the component palette
  2. Type in the code 50-30-11 and type Enter on your keyboard

QC will locate the CONTATOR TRIP. A 50-30-11(1NA+1NF), 230Vca.

     3. Insert the wire below the previously added SH2 button.

Note that a small grid with contact indicators will be added below the contactor. It is called “Cross Reference” inside QC and its purpose is to inform the position of other contacts of the same component on the project.

After you’ve inserted the contactor, you’ll need to put in a normally open contact parallel to our on botton so we may sustain our start. For that, before the contact insertion, you need to insert the wire to connect, following the steps below.

Insert a wire for another contact…
  1. In the wire palette
  2. Open folder “0.75mm²”
  3. Insert the red wire, pictured below:
