In order to approach all subjects in the Mechanical Layout category, such as Initiating layout in 2D, Inserting rails in the layout, Inserting gutters in the layout, Inserting components in the layout (customised), Inserting components in the layout (layout), etc, in a neater way, we’ve created an electrical design to control the direct start of an engine. It is the same design used in the Electrical Schematic.

The gutters and rails inside QC function in a dinamic way, that is, though you have the blocs for both components, they can be resized according to your wishes.

Next we will insert a rail into our design’s board.

Insert rails…

1. Go to the Component palette;
3. Double-click on TRILHO;
4. Define the insertion point on the upper half of the board as shown in the picture below;

5. Define the rail’s insertion angle;

You can the define the rail orientation with a click of the mouse or by typing the angle value into the command window

Enable Orto in your project for a better rail orientation by pressing F8

Define the first component’s length. Like the insertion angle, you can do it by either clicking or typing the desired value into the command window.

6. Type in 600 (60cm in the real world).

There, you have a rail in your project.

You will need two more rails of the same size in order to add all our components.

Insert rails from an already inserted rail…

1. Select the previously added rail;
2. In the Drawing tab, click on Copy;
3. Select the rail insertion point as a reference for the copy
4. Using the mouse, orient the copy downwards;
5. Type in 300;
6. Press Enter;
7. Create another downwards oriented copy, type in 600 and press Enter.

Now you have three rails with 30cm gaps between them.

Redefine the length of a rail…

1. Select the previously added rail;
2. Right click on the rail and click on properties;
3. Change the length value;
4. Click on OK.

In this way, it is possible to redefine the size of previously entered rails by only changing the length value in the properties.

It is important to remember that the rails serve to guide the components in it through the insertion point. Rails will always align the insertion point of the component with your own, maintaining the organization of your layout and design.
